The Roumanian Regency which heads the state during the minority of King Mihai promised to intervene in the anti-Semitic excesses on behalf of the Jewish population of the country. This promise was made today in the course of an audience granted to Dr. William Filderman, president of the Union of Roumanian Jews, who presented a memorandum on the Jewish situation created as a result of the attacks on the Jews.

Patriarch Miron and M. Seretzeanu assured Dr. Filderman that they would act for the interests of the Jewish population who, they emphasized, are of great value to Roumania. Patriarch Miron added that the organizers of the excesses are not true Christians.

The Bucharest daily “Adverul,” today reports that the Jewish inhabitants of Seculenti in the Soroca district have been asked to leave their homes following anti-Semitic agitation. An explanation of the latest attacks on the Jews was asked from Premier Maniu in Parliament by the Jewish senator, Myer Ebner.
