A threat of a general strike in all the universities of Roumania has been made by the Roumanian students if the authorities at Jassy University insist on punishing the students involved in the recent disturbances. The threat was contained in a memorandum issued by the students at Jassy after the minister of education, M. Costachescu, had visited Jassy and approved the punishments meted out by the university senate.
The minister has ordered all the universities to continue their lectures. Jewish students at Jassy University have appealed to their Jewish colleagues at the other universities to call a congress of Jewish students to consider the serious situation. The newspaper “Cuvantul” reports that certain opposition politicians are supporting financially the student agitators.
