A proposed round-up of more than a thousand manufacturers in the house furnishing trades of New York during the current drive to raise $500,000 deficit in the budget of three and a half millions of the Federation for the support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies was announced by Francis Leffler, new division head at a luncheon given to buyers and manufacturers by Samuel J. Bloomingdale, President of Bloomingdale Bros, at his office yesterday.
The meeting was held in order to complete the organization of more than 100 trades and professions all operating under the auspices of the Business Men’s Council of Federation to raise this deficit before the end of 1923. Mr. Leffler was elected chief of his trade by representativ business men chosen by Mr. Bloomingdale. The field of the new division head will include hardware, cutlery and housfurnishing lines.
Mr. Bloomingdale is councillor of these groups as well as furniture and glassware. The quota of these lines alloted by Felix M. Warburg and Percy S. Straus, co-chairman of the Business Men’s Council, is $30,000. Mr. Leffler will be responsible for raising $5,000.
