Director George Rublee of the Intergovernmental Refugee Bureau told a delegation of Jewish religious leaders today that the bureau’s task presented “unprecedented difficulties” but that, when the political situation Justified it, he hoped to be able to discuss with the authorities concerned the German and Austrian refugee problem. The delegation, consisting of Dr. Jacob Rosenheim and H. Goodman, leaders of the World Agudath Organization, had expressed the keen desire of private organizations to cooperate with the bureau and apprehension at the little progress made since the Evian conference at which it was established.
Mr. Rublee told the delegation that as soon as the League of Nations had decided on the manner of dealing with refugees in the future, the bureau would be able to cooperate with the new high Commission and, if necessary, also with the Liaison Committee which comprises representatives of private relief organizations.
