A distinction between “people” and “Jews” is now made in all official decrees in Rumania, while in Bucharest Jews are being segregated into a special category in a census of the population now being taken there in connection with a possible evacuation of the city.
Reports reaching here today state that while Rumanian “Aryans” are required by the authorities conducting the census to fill out a white form, Jews in Buchares must fill out white forms with red borders.
The Bucharest radio announced that the price of bread has been officially increased to 17 lei per 500 grams for people and to 33 lei for Jews. At the same time it was announeed that the bread ration for Jews had been out in half. The Jassy radio reported that the new sugar ration was 300 grams per person and 50 grams per Jew.
