The emigration of Jews from Rumania to Israel is likely to be resumed soon, according to letters received here from Rumanian Jews.
The letters, sent to relatives in Israel, say that a number of Rumanian Jews who had registered for emigration to Israel – and whose exit permits were cancelled upon the launching of the Soviet anti-Zionist campaign – have received permission to leave the country.
The Rumanian freighter Sulina called at Haifa port recently, marking the first such stop in three months. The Rumanian transport Transylvania, which until 15 months ago was used for the transfer to Israel of Rumanian Jews, is expected to arrive here soon.
