The Rumanian Supreme Court this week upheld a sentence imposed on the Jewish war criminal, Jancu Windisch, of Bukovina, who was found guilty of charges of misusing his authority while acting as secretary of the Judanrat of Obodovca, in the Ukraine. The defendant received a five-year jail term last May.
Joseph Szallay, who was formerly employed by a Jewish-owned flour mill, was sentenced to three years imprisonment, loss of civil rights and confiscation of property by a Cluj court. He was found guilty of charges of misinforming the Nazi authorities during the war about the rightful ownership of the mill and of denouncing a daughter of one of his former employers, leading to her deportation.
