The Rumanian Cabinet today received for consideration the draft of a law to pay pensions to widows and orphans of pogrom victims and to those who were disabled as a result of racial persecution or deportation during the pro-Nazi regimes.

The bill, previously held up by the Finance Ministry, which claimed the treastry did not have funds to meet obligations incurred under it, was finally pushed through by Labor Minister Lotar Radacescu, following appeals by Jewish organizations. However, the Finance Ministry has not yet approved the bill.

The Bucharest headquarters of the World Jewish Congress announced that it has received a number of letters from repatriated Rumanian Jews asking that it appeal to the Russian authorities to facilitate the repatriation of relatives left behind. The number of such persons still in the U.S.S.R. is estimated at 2,000.
