The Joint Distribution Committee has appealed to Rumanian Government to restore duty-free status to its relief supplies, despite a ently-enacted law abolishing all such exemptions, it was learned here today.
In a memorandum to the Finance Ministry, the JDC pointed out that in view of present depression and unrest in the country, it felt the Rumanian Government ##hld extend whatever help it possibly could to facilitate the work of the organization which, it emphasized, extends ait to non-Jews as well as Jews.
The note also stressed the fact that not only did the Bulgarian Government ##pt the JDC from import duties, but it provides free rail transportation, too.
