The Rumanian Government announced today that it will turn over to the Jewish community goods taken from Jewish deportees, and those who were out of the country, by the antonescu regime.
The community will return these goods, wherever possible, to the original owners, of their heirs. Jews were obliged to surrender clothes, shoes and other items of wearing apparel to the government for shipment to Germany or use by the needy within the country. Actually, most of the clothes were appropriated by naria Antonesou, wife of the dictator, and her associates.
A cacho of clothing valued at about 100,000,000 let has been discovered and it will be used to clothe the tattered refugees being repatriated from transnistria and elsewhere.
