Widespread fears by Rumanian Jewry that anti-Semitic outbreaks will occur during Tuesday’s elections were quested today by Minister of Interior Techari Georgescu. In an interview with the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, Georgescu promised that all measures will be taken to prevent excesses.
Minister of Education Stefan Voitech announced yesterday that teachers in Jewish elementary schools will receive equal status with those in state schools, that Jewish schools will receive adequate text-books from the ministry, and that the Jewish religion, which hitherto has not been taught in Jewish schools, will be introduced as a regular subject. Similar measures were taken some time ago in Jewish secondary schools.
