THE JEWISH PARTY ANNOUNCED TODAY THAT IT WILL CONTEST 50 OF 71 CONSTITUENCIES IN THE NATIONAL ELECTIONS OF DEC. 20.

IN 1931, THE PARTY POLLED 64,193 VOTES AND OBTAINED FIVE SEATS IN PARLIAMENT; THE SAME NUMBER OF SEATS WERE GAINED WITH 67,582 VOTES IN THE 1932 ELECTIONS, WHILE NONE WAS OBTAINED IN 1933, THE PARTY POLLING ONLY 50,000 VOTES, OR LESS THAN THE NECESSARY TWO PER CENT OF THE TOTAL.

THE PARTY ISSUED A MANIFESTO URGING A STRONG, UNITED BODY AS THE ONLY METHOD OF SAVING JEWS FROM THEIR THREATENED LOSS OF RIGHTS.

THE ANTI-SEMITIC NEWSPAPER PORUNCA VREMI WARNS JEWS IN AN EDITORIAL TODAY AGAINST PARTICIPATING IN THE ELECTIONS.

“NO MATTER HOW MANY LISTS THE JEWS PRESENT THEY WILL NEVER ARRIVE AT THE POLLING BOOTHS,” THE PAPER ASSERTS. “THERE ARE SUFFICIENT MEANS TO MAKE THEM UNDERSTAND THAT THEY HAVE NO RIGHT TO INTERFERE IN OUR INTERNAL AFFAIRS. FREEDOM OF VOTING IS ONLY FOR RUMANIANS AND CHRISTIAN MINORITIES. THE GOVERNMENT MUST WARN JEWS OF THE GRAVE CONSEQUENCES OF VIOLATION OF THIS DECISION BY THE RUMANIAN PEOPLE.”
