A group of Rumanian Jews who crossed into Hungary en route to the U.S. zone of Austria have been halted at the Transylvanian town of Rakos, the Budapest daily Hirlap reported today.
The paper says that the refugees are housed in an assembly hall on the grcunds of the Jewish cemetery at Rakos and are being fed twice daily by JDC representatives. However, there are no sleeping accommodations and the Jews are sleeping on the bare floor.
