The DAIA, central representative body of Argentine Jewry, today protested to the Rumanian Legation here against the trial and imprisonment of Zionist and Jewish communal leaders in Rumania.

The DAIA delegation demanded that the trial be halted and the imprisoned Jews be released; also that they be allowed to leave for Israel. The delegation also voiced its objections to the Rumanian authorities’ labelling Zionist activities and the desire to leave Rumania for Israel “crimes” against the Rumanian state. It pointed out that such activities were considered normal for Jews throughout the world.
