Rumanian Minister of the Interior Techari Geo## today called a conference of commanders of various frontier guard detachments to order tightening of curbs on unauthorized emigration across the borders.
The measures are expected to affect Jewish emigration, recently estimated at ##as high as 1,000 persons a week. It is authoritatively stated, however, that they are aimed at preventing the escape of highly placed leaders of the anti-Semitic Peasant Party, several of whom were recently taken off two planes.
Among those arrested was Ion Mihalache, vice-president of the party, who last year threatened the Jews of Rumania with violence, in a speech before an anti-Semitic group of university students.
