A group of students shouting anti-Semitic slogans raided a prominent Jewish restaurant in the center of the city here yesterday and smashed all the windows and costly mirrors of the place.
The raiding party was one of several groups participating in anti-Semitic disturbances in the vicinity of the royal palace. A lecture arranged by Jews in a meeting hall opposite the palace is said to have been the cause of the disturbances, which were quickly broken up by the police.
When the Rumanian Benjamin Schwarzfeld, at his wedding in 1848, wore a frockcoat and high silk hat instead of the caftan and fur cap, the police were compelled to interfere to prevent a public disturbance.
