The new $10,000,000 loan which the Palestine government has decided to raise will be spent for rural development, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency learned here today.
The loan will be repayable within thirty-seven years as four and a half per cent. Sixty per cent of the sum will be floated in London and forty per cent in Palestine. Palestine’s share will be subscribed by the Barclay Bank, the Anglo-Palestine Bank, the Labor Bank and the Kupath Ham.
The portion of the loan to be assigned for Jewish rural development has not been fixed as yet.
Commenting upon the recent interpellation made by Colonel Wedgwood in the House of Commons with regard to security in Palestine, Mr. Furness, the press officer of the Palestine government, today declared that “never did the Palestine government hold the security in Palestine safer than now.” Every attempt at incitement will be immediately suppressed, Mr. Furness added.
