Russia is considering selling Syria its advanced surface-to-air missiles. The state-owned manufacturer of the S-300 missiles may sell Damascus an undisclosed number of the weapons, according to the Interfax news agency. The report came in the wake of a visit by Syrian President Hafez Assad to Moscow, where he reportedly discussed a $2 billion arms purchase. The United States, which considers Syria a state sponsor of terrorism, is strongly protesting such sales.
