The “Emes”, the Jewish Communist paper declared that Zionism was dying, basing its conclusion on a statement made by a group of former Maccabee workers in its issue of March 15th. These former Maccabees declared that they had left the organization because of its narrow, Zionistic scope which would make it defend only the interests of the Jewish middle-class. The statement further declares that because the organization urges physical development only in order to strengthen the Jewish national revival, it has aroused the hostility of the Jewish workers who have refused to join its ranks. The statement which is signed by eight secretaries and the local organization concludes by appealing to the better elements to join the general proletarian physical culture organizations.
