Thousands of people, Jews and non-Jews, thronged the streets of Moscow, Tashkent, Kuibyshev, Sverdlovsk, Biro-Bidjan, and Ufa and many other Russian cities where large numbers of evacuated Jews have been concentrated, this week, to hear the broadcast by the Information Bureau of the Commissariat for Foreign Affairs detailing the atroeties which have been committed upon the Jews in the occupied countries by the Nazis, it is reported today by the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee here.
The account of the massacre of hundreds of thousands of Jews made a tremendous impression upon all the people of the Soviet Union, but especially so on those from occupied territories who were forced to leave friends and relatives behind, the Committee report states, Jews from Kiev, Minsk, Bialystok, Vilna, Berdichev, Zhitomor, Odessa, Kalindorf, Vinitsa stood in the streets weeping and muttering imprecations against the Nazis as the radios blared forth more and more details of the havoc that the Nazis have visited upon the Jewish population of those cities.
Some Jewish workers in armament factories doubled their production after hearing the broadcast, the report states. Other Jewish workers rushed to the directors of the plants asking to be released from their duties so that they might enlist in the Red Army and take vengeance for their murdered kinsmen.
