A report from the Russian Zionist organization, “Hitachduth,” which has just been received here, says that as a result of the August riots in Palestine, a period of persecution of Zionists has begun in Central Russia.
In Moscow on the tenth of January, 13 prominent members of the HeChalutz and Shomer Hazair organizations were arrested. Sixty-five others were compelled to sign a promise not to leave Moscow.
The reason given for the arrests of these Zionists was the fact that in their possession was found a report of the session of the American Jewish Congress and Dr. Wise’s speech protesting against the persecution of Zionists in Russia.
