Investigation by trustees of Rutgers University of charges by Dr. Leinard Bergel, anti-Nazi professor, that he is being dropped from the German staff because his views clashed with the pro-Hitler convictions of his colleagues, will be begun in New Brunswick, N. J., seat of the university, on Tuesday.
Nazi propaganda pamphlets supplied the Political Science Department by Dr. F. J. Hauptmann, head of the department, in the New Jersey College for Women, will be introduced then, the Jewish Daily Bulletin was informed Friday, in support of Dr. Bergel’s contention.
The New Jersey Legislature is expected to enter the controversy tomorrow (Monday) night when an $800,000 appropriation for Rutgers will be weighed. At present the university’s allotment is $500,000. Legislation has been enacted in the neighboring state outlawing Nazi and other hatred-inciting propaganda.
