The S.S. Parnon, the first vessel to succesafully transport cargo between two Israeli ports via the Suez Canal, arrived at the Gulf of Akaba port of Eilat last midnight and immediately began unloading a shipment of asphalt. The vessel was detained on Sept. 2 by Egyptian authorities at Port Said but released on Sept. 14.
