An anti-Semitic flourish by the Saarbrucken tribunal today created a painful impression in France, for that city until now has been considered free from Nazi domination due to the fact that it is an independent territory.
The Saarbrucken tribunal, however, tried a local bookseller on the charge that he displayed in his shop window anti-Semitic literature, including the well-known “ritual” accusation. The tribunal’s president, Herr Messinger, dismissed the case and declared that “the Jewish ritual practice was not an encitement of public disorder, but was a fact.”
