Sabbath-observing merchants of Bensonhurst will no longer be molested for keeping their shops open on Sundays, according to arrangements made by the Jewish Sabbath Alliance of America with the Bensonhurst Board of Trade.
At the meeting of the Board of Trade, held last Thursday, a resolution was passed calling on the businessmen of that vicinity to close their stores on either Saturdays or Sundays. The Sabbath Alliance was represented by William Rosenberg, executive secretary, and Rabbi Kazernovsky. It was agreed that merchants displaying a sign from the Alliance, certifying to their strict adherence to the Sabbath, may open stores on Sundays.
