Salomon Sack, who arrived in Chile from Villea in 1914, a penniless laborer and became a legendary figure here in his lifetime as a millionaire philanthropist, died here today. He was 69 years old.
A prominent figure in Jewish communal life here, he was president of the Jewish bank and a director of the Jewish community. His outstanding benefaction was his gift of $1, 000, 000 to the University of Chile ten years ago to found the School of Architecture. Dr. Juan Gomez, Rector of the university, and thousands of students were expected to participate in the funeral services. The Chilean Federation of Students asked all its members to join in honoring the Jewish philanthropist.
