Samuel and Agnon Win 1948 Award for Best Tow Jewish Books Published in English

Maurice Samuel and S.J. Agnon are the winners of the 1948 Louis Lamed Fund prizes given annually for the two best Jewish books published in English in this country, it was announced today. Samuel won the award for his he Prince of the Ghetto,” published by Enopf, and Agnon received the prize for his “Days of Awe,” published by Schocken Books. The former is a book about the wall-known Jewish writer J.L. Peretz while the latter is an anthology of Jewish thought on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
