Funeral services for Samuel Blitz, executive vice-president of the United Jewish Appeal from 1945-1965 were held today. He died Friday at the age of 88. Born in Lemberg, Galicia, his parents brought him to New York at the age of two. Blitz became a Zionist early in his life and as a teenager arranged itineraries and meetings for Chaim Weizman and other Zionist leaders. Before joining the New York UJA in 1936, he was secretary of the Zionist Council of Greater New York and executive director of the United Palestine Appeal of Greater New York. He was also a member of the Zionist Organization of America.
