Samuel D. Leidesdorf, a prominent American Jewish leader, was honored by New York University yesterday on the occasion of his 85th birthday. Mr. Leidesdorf, who is chairman of the board of the NYU Medical Center, is a past president of the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of New York, and has been very active in the United Jewish Appeal, the Joint Distribution Committee and numerous other Jewish philanthropic endeavors.
