Samuel H, Daroff of Philadelphia, nationally prominent philanthropic leader, has been named national cash chairman of the United Jewish Appeal and is heading a special drive to bring in $40,000,000 in cash before the UJA’s anniversary conference opens in Jerusalem on June 24, it was announced today by UJA general chairman Morris W. Berinstein.
Mr. Daroff, who is a national chairman of the UJA, stated in accepting his additional post that he is issuing an urgent message to leaders of community campaign affiliates throughout the country to press for conversion of gift pledges into cash in order to keep pace with the mounting requirements of UJA’s humanitarian programs abroad, particularly in Israel.
