Samuel A. Fryer, a Los Angeles philanthropist and biochemist, who has given more than a million dollars to local and Israeli educational institutions in recent years, announced today a $450, 000 contribution to the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
Mr. Fryer, who announced the gift at the inaugural luncheon here of the Founders of the New Campus of the Hebrew University, said that the funds are to be applied to the construction of facilities on the new university campus in Jerusalem and at the school of agriculture in Rehovot.
Mr. Fryer, who had previously contributed $125, 000 to the university for fellowships and scholarships, was one of 14 contributors inducted into the Society of Founders in recognition of their each having contributed $25, 000 or more to the university building fund. His gift was the largest announced at the luncheon which was held in support of the five-year $12, 000, 000 development program recently initiated by the American Friends of the Hebrew University for the completion, of the new Jerusalem campus.
