Borough President Samuel Levy of Manhattan has accepted the chairmanship of the Holy Days Appeal of the Non-Sectarian Anti-Nazi League, it was announced yesterday.
At the same time Samuel Untermyer, president of the league, urged temple leaders throughout the country to aid the league in its drive for a defense fund to continue the boycott against Nazi goods.
This is the time of the year, Mr. Untermyer pointed out, when Jews give special thought to their brethren in distress and that not in generations has any group of Jews been so persecuted as the Jews in Germany. He asked that leaders of the Jewish communities stress the fight on Hitlerism along two fronts: intensification of sales resistance to German goods and raising of funds so that the league may continue its activities.
Jewish community leaders serving on the Holy Days Appeal Committee with Mr. Levy are:
Isaac Allen, M. H. Hoenig, William Weiss, Rabbi Lazar Schoenfeld, Sol Friedland, Max Ornstein, Joseph H, Lookstein, Dr. Pinchas Churgin, Rabbi Joseph Komowitz, Bennett S. Siegelstein, Abraham Felder, Ralph Pichel, Mordecai Danzis, Rabbi Israel Rosenberg, Lee Florsheim, Ephraim Kaplan, Rabbi Morris M. Rose, Rabbi M. Schorr and Rabbi M. S. Margulies.
