The king has appointed Samuel Samuel, M.P., brother of the late Lord Swaythling, to be an Associate Officer of the Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem. Mr. Samuel who is 74 years of age, is a partner in the banking firm of M. Samuel & Co. He is a director of the Shell Transport and Trading Co., Ltd., the Anglo-Saxon Petroleum Co., and Lloyds Bank. He is president of the Jewish Soup Kitchen.
