The Dominican Congress, meeting in a special executive session on Tuesday, passed a bill barring all immigration except of those who are to make the Republic their permanent home, it was learned here today.
The action came as a result of internal pressure from citizens objecting to the large number of “transient” refugess who have reached Caudad Trujillo and are waiting there to procure entry into other North and South American countries under their quotas.
The measure does not affect those refugees who will be chosen for settlement in the Sosua colony of the Dominican Republic Settlement Association.
Three representatives of the association left yesterday for Sosua. They are Leon Falk, Pittsburgh steel man and head of the Falk Foundations; Alfred Wagg, agricultural and economic adviser, and W. Lee, United States Department of Agriculture expert, who has been stationed in Puerto Rico.
