Israeli Finance Minister Pinhas Sapir is scheduled to arrive in the United States tomorrow for a series of talks with political and Jewish leaders. Sapir intends to meet with U.S. Treasury Secretary George Schultz to discuss a $300 million loan for arms purchases, according to reports from Israel. He is also expected to ask for a longer repayment period than the 10-year period that has been proposed.
Sapir is scheduled to attend a luncheon tomorrow in New York hosted by David Rockefeller, Board chairman of the Chase Manhattan Bank. The bank handles most of the Israeli government’s financial business in the U.S. New York Mayor John V. Lindsay and other leading figures in the banking and financial world are also expected to attend the luncheon.
