Pinhas Sapir, Israel’s Finance Minister, is due here the first week in April to seek new financial help from the United States to meet Israel’s Yom Kippur War-created burdens, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency learned.
President Nixon has not yet determined what part of the $2.2 billion emergency military aid law for Israel is to be in the form of grants. Congress left it to the President to provide up to $1.5 billion from the total in grants and up to $682 million in credits. Talks on recommendations to the President are understood to be still underway within the Administration.
Sapir reportedly also will discuss aid to Israel in the form of implementation of the $300 million in military aid credits provided in the foreign military aid law, $150 million under P.L. 480. and $50 million in economic security assistance, It was reported.
