A group of New York City based national financial leaders, led by David Rockefeller, Joined together with Mayor John V. Lindsay today to honor Israel’s Finance Minister, Pinhas Sapir, at a luncheon reception in the Chase Manhattan Bank, One Chase Manhattan Plaza. The reception was Jointly sponsored by Rockefeller, chairman of the board of the Chase Manhattan Bank and Lindsay, and served to honor the Israel Finance Minister as part of the current observances of Israel’s 26th anniversary. The reception was closed to the press.
The anniversary, May 6-7, is being celebrated in New York under the direction of a special committee headed by Abraham Feinberg, chairman of the executive committee of the American Bank and Trust Company, and one of the guests at to day’s occasion. Nationally, the celebrations are sponsored by the American Committee for Israel’s 25th Anniversary, headed-up-by Jacob Stein, who also is chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.
Sapir is scheduled to speak Thursday night at the concluding banquet of the annual national midwinter conference of the Israel Histadrut Foundation in Miami Beach. The Finance Minister will present the “$25 Million Award” of the Foundation to Dr. Leon Kronish of Miami Beach, national chairman of the Foundation’s board and rabbi of Temple Beth Sholom. The award symbolizes Dr. Kronish’s leadership in securing more than $24 million in cash and commitments by the organization.
