Aaron Sapiro, plaintiff in the $1,000,000 libel suit against Henry Ford, was the winner in a $30,000 libel action against a Regina, Sask., publication.

When Sapiro was in Western Canada working on the formation of a Canadian wheat pool, the Regina newspaper attacked him.

Sapiro sued for $30,000. When the case came up before the Court of Kings bench it was thrown out on technical terms. Sapiro carried the suit to the Court of Appeals, which ordered the case sent back to the lower court for trial on its merits.

Then a settlement was arranged out of court, the general terms of which were: The publication must withdraw all charges, must pay all costs, and must make the agreement a part of the court records of the case. The newspaper further agreed to select a homeless boy within ninety days “who would not otherwise stand a chance for education” and pay all his expenses in the public schools and on through until he graduates in the Saskatchewan Provincial University.
