The charge that an American seaman had been kidnaped from an American ship while it was docking in Hamburg was contained in a letter sent yesterday by the Anti-Nazi Commission, 168 West Twenty-third Street, to the Non-Sectarian Anti-Nazi League, the American Jewish Congress and other organizations.
The letter called on the organizations to protest to the German embassy in Washington and to Secretary of State Cordell Hull the arrest and kidnaping of Lawrence B. Simpson, 35, an American citizen and able bodied seaman on the S.S. Manhattan.
Edward Walisch, another seaman on the ship, the letter said, reported that Simpson was removed from the ship by Nazi secret service men who raided his locker and removed his belongings, including anti-Nazi literature.
