The Nazi salute has nothing “Aryan” about it and is a copy of the raised-arm salute given to Pharaoh Akhenaton in the fifteenth century B. C., Dr. A. S. Yahuda, Biblical scholar, contended today in an article in the London Daily Telegraph.
“Nothing is more characteristic of the tactics of Nazi leaders than the representation of a servile salute as an authentic gesture of lordship and racial supremacy belonging to the Germanic peoples,” Dr. Yahuda write.
The scholar said the swastika was an ornament in common use among Jews and Christians in Biblical times and not “an emblem of power which proclaims its ideal to be the annihilation of the Jewish people.”
Arthur Guiterman, poet, has written a narration in verse called “Menorah Ceremony.” It will be rendered dramatically April 10 at the fifth annual luncheon of the Women’s Division of the Brooklyn Federation.
