A mild sensation was created here by an address by Dr. Thomas W. Hughes, law professor, in which he declared that all of the proceedings in the trial of Jesus were illegal according to Jewish law.
“The Jewish law provides the trial must be held in a certain building. The trial was actually held in a private residence. “Jesus”, the professor also said, was found guilty unanimously. Unanimous verdicts are nullified under Jewish law, the assumption being that they were hastily reached. Crucifixion too”, he declared, “was a Roman and not a Jewish penalty.”
