Tiny children in the German schools are being inflamed with the war spirit and taught to hate Jews, Miss Maria Halberstadt, expatriate German high school teacher, told the Liberal club at the Milwaukee State Teachers’ College recently.
Every morning the little children, holding aloft copies of the Versailles treaty, repeat under the teacher’s guidance, “This shame shall burn in my heart till the day of revenge comes,” Miss Halberstadt pointed out.
Ten years an instructor in Berlin, she was forced out in April because of pacifist sentiments. Now, the pupils day after day are being taught glorification of war and superiority of the Aryan race, she explained.
To keep the German munitions manufacturing secret, no person is permitted to leave the Ruhr district without a pass, she said.
