Says Race Prejudice Must Be Dropped in Conduct to Foreign Born

“Race prejudice must be dropped and our conduct toward the foreign born must be exemplary of a true democracy where civic and political equality must endure as to all worthy people,” declared Commissioner General of Immigration, Harry E. Hull in a statement issued here today in which he said:

“Within recent years the importance has been realized of advising aliens of the rights and duties of American citizenship.

“The typical immigrant enters America with just a vague idea of its type of government. He needs instruction as to its functions. He needs to appreciate the significance of his oath of allegiance.”
