The fact is that the Palestine situation wasn’t cleared up as a result of the hearing before the Shaw Commission. The hearing only revealed a terrible picture of in competency on the part of the Mandatory Power. Mr. Luke had to admit that the riots came as a complete surprise to the government, which is a virtual admission of failure.
“The Wailing Wall question is very important for the solution of the Holy Land’s problems, but as long as the Balfour Declaration remains in force the Palestine problem will exist.”
