A call to Jewish young men and women in the Scandinavian countries to “participate in strengthening Judaism throughout the world” was made here today by Dr. A. Steinberg, head of the World Jewish Congress’ cultural department. He addressed the opening session of the conference of the Scandinavian Jewish Youth Federation here, attended by more than 600 delegates and guests.
Chief Rabbi Kurt Wilhelm of Sweden extended greetings to the delegates, as did Prof. Hugo Valentin, in behalf of the Swedish Zionist Federation. The delegates were also greeted by Karl Berman of the World Jewish Congress, and David Mellow, in behalf of the British Federation of Jewish Youth. A. Berelli, representing Israel youths, urged Scandinavian Jewish young men and women to “come to Israel — if not to settle, then at least as tourists.”
