The debate over schechita in the town council was concluded today. Councillor Wyrembowski declared that the prohibition of schechita was demanded by the national honor of the Polish people. He declared. “We do not want to eat what the Jewish throw away.”
Jewish speakers called attention to the fact that the opponents of schechita were moved not by humanitarian considerations but by a desire to destroy the Jewish meat trade. A vote on the subject will be taken at the next session of the town council.
