Public installation of the officers of Jacob H. Schiff Center, its Sisterhood, and Parents’ Organization by County Court Judge Harry Stackel marked the tenth anniversary of the Schiff Center Hebrew School, and the inception of a drive for ten thousand dollars to maintain the school. After a number af ten dollar contributions had been received, Rabbi Alexander Basel, executive director on the Center, Fordham road and Valentine avenue, Bronx, announced that the names for all donors will be inscribed upon a parchment roll that is to be framed and kept in the Synagogue of the Center.
Officers of the board of directors include: Max Kraus, president; S. L. Zavon, first vice-president’ Charles Gelman, second vice-president; Irving S. Rapaport, third vice-president; Simon Blum, treasurer; Nathan Greenwald, financial secretary; Henry N. Rapaport, recording secretary, and Louis Samis, supervisor of Services.
Executives who begin new terms with the Sisterhood are: Mrs. Bessie Elstein, president; Mr. M. P. Stein, first vice-president; Mrs. P. J. Friedman, second vice-president; Mrs. Harry Cohen, third vice-president; Mrs. G. Solow, fourth vice-president; Mrs. Simon Blum, treasurer; Mrs. S. Eesenstadt, financial sevretary; Mrs. C. Falkenstein, corresponding secretary; Mrs. Alexander Basel, recording secretary, and Mrs. J. Grossman, chairman of Social Service.
