A street named after Jacob Schiff, the American Jewish philanthropist, was renamed here today by the Nazi authorities. It is to be known as Mumm-strasse.
A dozen other streets carrying Jewish names were also renamed today, including one named after Heinrich Heine, the German Jewish poet, and after Sonnemann, founder of the Frankfurter Zeitung.
In connection with the latter, it was pointed out that Premier Goering’s wife comes from a Sonnemann family and was known under this name until yesterday, when she became the wife of the Nazi leader.
