Rabbi Alexander Schindler, chairman of the Conterence of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, reportedly advised Premier Menachem Begin to take advantage of what he said was a pro-Israel backlash in the U.S. after the Senate approved the sale of advanced combat planes to Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Schindler, in Israel on a brief visit, conferred with Begin for an hour yesterday.
He also reportedly told the Premier that earlier public opinion polls in the U.S. putting President Anwar Sadat of Egypt ahead of Begin as a peacemaker, were now evening out.
