Speaking at a mass meeting here yesterday, Joseph Schwartz, European director of the Joint Distribution Committee, announced the conclusion of a new agreement between the South African Jewish War Appeal and the J.D.C. in administering relief to the Jews of Europe.
The South African organization will render special assistance to the Jews in Latvis and Lithuania, he stated. Pointing out that the J.D.C. is already sending aid to Baltic countries, Schwartz expressed the hope that the Soviet Union would soon permit the entrance of J.D.C. representatives to these areas. He also summed up the position of the Jews in various parts of Europe and paid tribute to the aid already given by the S.A.J.W.A.
